About Ira Montessori

Ira is a private Montessori House of Children serving children between the age group of 2 1/2 to 6 years. The management of Ira feels that children need the benefits of having individual attention, as the first formative years are very crucial and also difficult from the perspective of the child. Today’s Child misses the security and comfort of the extended family and safety of having family during their formative years. This is where Ira wants to step in.The Management and staffs of Ira believe that every child deserves a safe, warm and caring environment to grow and develop.

Ira offers children a “Home away from Home” where they can relax, settle down and learn as they work. The environment at Ira has been designed to allow children to move around freely and it also provides a spacious work and play area. Cleanliness and Hygiene play a very important role in Ira’s Environment.

With regard to the adults/teachers at Ira Montessori, all the adults are trained and certified by “Indian Montessori Training Centre” & “India Montessori Association”. We maintain a 1:12 ratio i.e each adult has 12 children to observe and present.

In our Pre-school environment we have NTT trained adults to help all children enrolled for a year .If the parents wish to continue their child’s schooling or if a nonmontessori child would like admission for L.K.G or U.K.G, Ira also offers these as part of their pre-school curriculum.

About Dr. Maria Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori was born in Chiraville, Italy on 31st August 1870. In 1896 Madame Montessori became the first woman to graduate from the University of Rome Medical School and then she joined the staff of the University Psychiatric Clinic. She was also the first Lady Doctor to Graduate in those times. Being required to oversee children who were mentally retarded she became convinced that these children could learn if given the proper tools. She studied the work of Jean Itard and Eduardo Sequin-Pioneers in material based studies for the retarded children and started to design such tools for them.
